Indian RAW Agent in Pakistan
Ravindra (11 April,1952 to November,2001) was
a Research and Analysis wing (R&AW) operative. Famously known as Black
Tiger, he is regarded as Kaushik spied for R & AW against the Pakistan from
1979 to 1983.

Ravindra Kaushik was born in Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan on April 11,
1952. He also did his graduation from there. His father also served in Indian
Air force before his retirement. Kaushik was a man of great talents especially
in the field of acting. Kaushik displayed his talent at the national level
dramatic meet in Lucknow,Uttarpradesh. He stole the sight of RAW officials. RAW
officer requested him to join the force. At the tender age of 23, Kaushik went
undercover for the Indian intelligence agency.

Before posting in Pakistan, Ravindra Kaushik went through rigorous
training for the period of two years, which involves learing Urdhu, getting
acquainted with the Quran and other Islamic religious texts. He also learned
the topograph of Pakistan. In 1974, he was sent to Pakistan where he went on to
complete his LLB from Karachi University. He gained a new identity of Nabi ahmed
Shakir. Leter he joined the Pakistani army and then became a commissioned
officer. Soon, he was promoted to the rank of
a major. During this period, Ravinder Kaushik fell in love with a local
girl Amanat and married her.
During the time span of 1979 to 1983 , he passed on important
information to India without getting caught. 1983 when a new agent named Inyat
Masiha went to visit Kaushik but was caught by Pakistani officials. During his
interrogation, he revealed the secret identify of Kaushik. The black tiger was
arrested & sentenced to death. He spent 18 yeaqrs in the Pakistani cell and
died in captivity.

While alive, Ravindra Kaushik often sneaked several letters to his
family in India. He also talked about the trauma he suffered. Since, 1987 being
18 years in prison, Kaushik received no help from his motherland & died on
Pakistan Soil. It was the November 2001 when Black Tiger died during Pulmonary
Tuberculosis and heart attack. Kaushik died in the new central Multan jail in
Pakistan.
After hearing the news of death, Kaushik’s father dies of shock &
heart attack soon followed by his mother Amladevi. His younger brother holds
the Indian government accountable for their death. There is no story about his
wife after his captivity.
He
must have too celebrated his death and died proudly and honored. His sacrifice
too remained unknow and unacknowledged.
