Indian Nuclear Scientist killed by American CIA
Homi Jahangir Bhaba (30
October,1909 -----24 January,1966) was as Indian nuclear physicist, founding
director and professor of physics at the Tata institude of fundamental
research.
Colloquially known as “Father
of the Indian Nuclear Programme”. Bhaba
was also the founding director of the Atomic energy Establishment, Tromby
(AEET) which is now named the Bhaba atomic research center in his honour. Homi
Jahangir Bhaba was awarded the Adamas prize (1942) & Padma Bhusan (1954) .
He was also nominated for the Nobel prize for physics in 1951 and 1953-1956.
The early years of Indian atomic
development were largely marked by nuclear cooperation with the Canada, the
USA, the UK and the France and focused on the peaceful use of nuclear
energy alone.
However, Bhaba had recognisd the
immense possibility of the weapon and
its strategic value. During a conference, he said, “ Nuclear weapons coupled
with an adequate delivery system can enable a state to destroy more or less
totally the cities, industry and all important targets in another state. It is
then largely irrelevant whether the state so attacked has greater destructive
power at its command. With the help of nucear weapon, there fore, a state can
acquire what we may call a position of absolute deterrence even against another
having a many times greater destructive power under its Control “.
In 1965, Homi Jehangir bhaba had declared on all India redio that he
could make India a nuclear armed country with in 18 months if given the
go-ahead. This sent shivers down the spines of world power. So , with in a
year, Homi Bhaba is suspected to have been killed by the united states CIA.
Bhaba died in 1966 in an Air India
crash 3 monthes after he said India
could make an atom bomb in 18 months. Was it sabotage ? or just an accident ?
In January 1966, an Air India
boeing 707 from Bombay to New York
crashed near Mont Blanc’s summit, killing all 117 people on board. Another Air
India flight crashed on the mountain in 1950 , klling 48 people.
The official explantation for the crash has been a misunderstanding
between the pilot and the Geneva airport about the aircraft’s
position.Conspiracy theories, however, including a CIA assassination pilot,
abound.
In August 2019, 53 years after it occurred, the
crash get widespread press when Indian
prime minister Narendra Modi virtually attended
the inauguration of a memorial for the victims at a French village near
Mont Blanc. Air India 101, the boeing 707 named ‘Kanchanjanga’ the crashed in
to Mont Blanc on 24 Janusry, 1966.
Killing all 117 passengers and crew on board.
( Dr Homi Jahangir Bhaba with Indian prime minister Lal bahadur Shatri)
There’s a history, however a top Indian scientists a similar fate. There
was the incident of farmer ISRO scientist Dr. Nambi Narayanan who was
wrongfully arrested and tortured after being falsely accused in the 1994 ISRO
spy case.Recently, the supreme court awarded him compensation for Rs 50
lakhs for all the hardship that he had
to endure.
(Dr Nambi Narayan)
Incidentlly Dr. Narayanan is one of
the pionees of liquid rocket fuel technology in India. The initial research of
his time was also used in India’s mon mission.
( Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra)
(Lord Jagannath Tample, Puri, Odisha, India)
There was the mysterious death
of Vikram sarabhai, the father of India’s
space programme. He was found dead in his hotel room on the 30th December, 1971 , at the Halcyon castle at
Kavalam.
( Vikram Sarabhai with Indian prime minister Indra Gandhi)
He had shown no signs of illness the
previous evening when he was meeting
scientists & holding a discussion.
In 2009 there was the suspicious
death of nuclear scientist Loknathan Mahalingam. The 48 year old went missing
from his morning walk only for his body to be recovered five days later at the
Kali river.
(Lokanathan Mahalingam)
Only a few weeks earlier, another
scientist who worked at the Nuclear power corporation was found dead in the same forest.
On Dr. Homi Jahangir Bhaba birth anniversary to day, it is only fit for
India to remember its nuclear hero.
With best wish from Suvendu Singha.
