The Chines tennis star Sexual Assult

       Peng Shuai one of China’s most popular tennis players, has denied saying she had made accusations of sexual assault against a former senior politician on social media site weibo.

                                  




                   

    She published a post on weibo on 2 November, alleging she had been coerced in to sexual relations with Zhang Gaoli, a former Chinese vice premier. In it Ms peng said that originally, she didn’t agreed to a sexual relationship with him and “ kept crying”, but eventually she had”agreed”.

     The women’s Tennis Association(WTA) has decided to suspend all tournaments in China, including Hong Kong , amid concern that Ms Peng “ Is not allowed to communicate freely” and seems to have been “pressured to contradict her allegation of sexual assault”.

                            


     On 3 November, Chinese tennis commenttor Ouyang wensheng, wrote: “ Hope you aresafe” and “ How desperate and helpless she must have been”.Both these posts have been taken down.

      Search engine Baidu shows only state media reporting on Zhang Gaoli. And if you search for” Peng Shuai”, the only results that show up are from 2020 and earlier. Peng alleged that she was forced to have sex three years ago with former vice premier Zhang Gaoli. The post was quickly deleted  from peng’s  verified account but screenshots of the explosive accusations were shared on the internet.

                           


WTA Chairman steve simon said he had been told “ From several sources” that peng was safe”.

“We must unite and be willing to take action unless corroborated evidence is provided to the world about peng shuai’s well-being”, the association said.

   China’s state-run CGTN published a screenshot on twitter of an e-mail  it alleged was from peng to the WTA in which she claimed her accusations were ‘ not true’ and ‘ everything is fine’.

                                 


          The WTA continue to remain ‘deeply concerned’ that chainese star peng shuai is still unsafe from ‘ censorship or coercion’  as she has been unable to talk freely.
